New to Life of Smiles? Here’s what to expect…
First impressions are everything, and we've designed every detail of our Sebastopol and Windsor offices with your child in mind. We'll show you around, introduce you to our friendly team, and walk you through everything that makes Life of Smiles a little different from your average dental office.
We also know a dental office can feel intimidating — for kids and parents alike. Whatever brings you in, easing that anxiety matters to us. We take time to listen, answer your questions, and work with your child at a pace that makes sense for them.

Your First Visit, Step by Step
-
Before anything else, we slow down and connect. Dr. Bell or Dr. Vo will gather your child's medical, dental, and personal history, and take the time to really get to know your family — your routines, your concerns, and your goals. This helps us provide care that's truly personalized from the very first appointment.
-
Dr. Bell or Dr. Vo will take a thorough look at your child's teeth, gums, and jaw — checking for any concerns and assessing their overall growth and oral development.
-
When appropriate, we use low-radiation digital X-rays to see beneath the surface of your child's smile and catch any issues before they become bigger problems. Our sensors are the smallest on the market and are designed to make the whole process quick and comfortable for kids.
-
We can't follow your kids home to brush their teeth for them — so we make sure families are well equiped. We'll show X-rays, teach brushing and flossing techniques, talk through diet and habits, and partner with you on the daily routines that keep smiles healthy.
-
We'll thoroughly clean and floss your child's teeth using gentle, kid-friendly techniques that leave their smile sparkling and their gums feeling great.
-
Once the cleaning's done, we finish with a fluoride varnish that helps protect teeth from cavities and decay.
-
At your next visit, Dr. Bell or Dr. Tasha will go over any treatment recommendations and answer all your questions. If there's nothing that needs attention, we'll get you scheduled for a regular checkup and keep your child's smile on track.
Desensitization Visits
For children with dental anxiety, special health care needs, or who just need a little extra time to feel comfortable, Life of Smiles proudly offers desensitization appointments. Over one visit or several, we'll let your child explore the office, meet our team, sit in the chair, check out our tools, and ask every question they've got — all pressure-free and at their own pace. No treatment happens until they feel genuinely ready.
Parents and guardians are always welcome — and encouraged — to be by their child's side throughout the entire visit. A confident and trusting child makes for the best dental appointments!
How to Prepare for Your Child's First Visit
Great appointments start before you even walk through the door! Here's how to set your child up for an awesome first visit at Life of Smiles:
-
We have two office locations: Sebastopol and Windsor. Choose the one that works for you! Our goal is to create a dental home with continuity of care so we encourage families to choose an office for the long term. Learn more about our offices in the “About Us” section of our website!

Fill out your child's new patient forms online ahead of time to minimize wait time and help us prepare for your appointment. Completing your forms also sets up your family's patient portal, giving you easy access to records and resources anytime.

Insurance is important. As a courtesy, we process your insurance on your behalf — but we need accurate, current information from you to do that. Please make sure your insurance details are up to date in our system before your visit.
-
Does your child have a beloved stuffed animal, blanket, or toy? Bring it! Familiar comfort items can make a big difference in helping children feel at ease in a new environment.
-
If your child is particular about flavors or textures, bring along their go-to toothpaste! Using something familiar during the cleaning can help keep them relaxed and comfortable.
-
We are honest and open! We genuinely love talking about teeth — so bring every question you've got!
